DJ Khaled and Nicki have both revealed that his marriage proposal was a hoax, but has that little joke sparked a real romance?
DJ Khaled may have claimed that he was just messing around when he proposed to Nicki Minaj on July 25, but the two were definitely getting close in new pictures Nicki posted on Instagram on August 9 and 10. Has their relationship blossomed into something more?
DJ Khaled & Nicki Minaj: Is A Wedding Still On The Table?
Khaled and Nicki are definitely comfortable around each other, and they clearly enjoy each other’s company. They appeared to be having a blast together on August 9, when Nicki posted a selfie of her and the DJ partying in a club. “Khaled talking mad cocky s**t. As always @djkhaled lmao,” she wrote for the photo’s caption. He must be cocky — it takes a certain kind of man to propose to a girl on MTV with a $500,000 ring.
Nicki then posted two more photos of herself and Khaled enjoying their night out. In both of the other pics Nicki and her phony-fiance posed with other friends. You have to admit — they might make a cute couple!
DJ Khaled & Nicki Minaj: The Marriage Proposal Was A Joke
Though allegedly a marriage between these two is totally out of the question. Breaking our hearts, DJ Khaled revealed on August 1 that the proposal video was just an over-the-top prank.
“I was just having fun with it and just show love," he told the radio station iPower Richmond. "Bring some excitement for my fans and connect with the record. I just wanted to tap into the emotion of the record and really spread a message. I was joking with it and having fun. We be so busy making these big hits and I wanted to come with a dope plan to present the next smash single besides just giving it out."
Nicki meanwhile, also laughed off the proposal, and couldn’t believe we all bought it, she said in an interview with Hot 97. She told the NYC radio station:
Khaled was not serious with that damn proposal. I was shocked just like the rest of the world and I was cracking up laughing with the rest of the world cause Khaled is a master at what he does. It was just another way for him to kinda give the world a glimpse on the feeling of this record. Nobody in my real life took it seriously. Everybody just hit me like, “LOL. Yo, Khaled is crazy.” Khaled is my brother and Khaled was not serious with that damn proposal, ya'll. Please let it go. He was kidding. He's not attracted to me, he doesn't like me. We're brother and sister.
Do brother and sister take cozy photos with each other at the club? (The answer: maybe.)
