A week later, Miley Cyrus‘ performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards is still the only thing anyone wants to talk about. Unfortunately, not everyone is talking nicely about it. HollywoodLife.com rounded up the eight craziest examples of celebrities dissing Miley’s raunchy foam-finger display — and you won’t believe some of the people speaking out!
Miley’s Biggest VMA Disses Revealed:
A few of our favorite stars took subtle jabs at Miley by copying her now-signature tongue extension. Both Harry Styles and Selena Gomez were photographed “just being Miley” on red carpets following her VMA performance. Meanwhile, Drake couldn’t even look at her while she pranced on stage, and Kelly Clarkson tweeted that the whole shoe was full of “#PitchyStrippers.”
Even Brooke Shields, who played Miley’s mom on Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana, had not-so-nice things to say. ”I was Hannah Montana's mother; where did I go wrong?” Brooke said the next day on the Today show. “I just want to know who's advising her, and why [the racy display] is necessary. … I feel like it's a bit desperate.”
Ross Mathews – whose new show, Hello Ross, debuts Oct. 6 at 10:30 p.m. on E! — also stopped by our office the day after the VMAs to talk all things Miley, describing her as seeming like “the drunk girl who doesn’t know when to leave the party.”
Also shockingly, the Parents Television Council — of which Miley’s dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, is an advisory board member — released a lengthy statement, criticizing Miley and claiming she “substituted talent for sex.” Ouch!
But the most outrageous — and some might say accurate — description of Miley’s on-stage antics came from the mother of her co-performer, Robin Thicke!
“I think she’s misbegotten in this attempt of hers,” his mom Gloria Loring, told OMG! Insider. ”And I think it was not beneficial. I didn’t get what her point was. … It was so over the top as to almost be a parody of itself.”
Yikes!
