The 'Teen Mom 3' girls face new, harsh reality checks as they learn to co-parent with their guys. Read on for all the dramatic highlights of the show's Sept. 2 episode.

“Growing up fast,” is right. The Teen Moms get a harsh intro to adulthood with their latest trials and tribulations. The girls confront their biggest dilemmas: Briana confronts Devoin about his cyberbullying, Katie is heartbroken after Joey's debts threaten their new apartment’s lease, Mackenzie tries to get on birth control despite her family’s objections, and Alex calls out Matt on his laziness.

Katie Yeager Clashes With Fiance Joey Maes Over Finances

Katie proudly shows off her engagement ring to her family, but she and fiance Joey Maes decide to wait until she finishes college to officially get married. The pair examines their finances in considering getting a place together. They go apartment-hunting together and decide that they can afford a wonderful two-bedroom place for their young family. After signing on a lease and trying to move in, Katie finds out that Joey owes a lot of debts that are standing in their way.

Katie and Joey get into a heated fight over their financial troubles. Joey gets angry that they're living in a nice apartment and Katie's acting like they're broke. Though he's working long hours to support Molli, he doesn't feel that Katie thinks he's good enough. He gets angry and storms out on her, leaving her crying alone.

Mackenzie Douthit Considers Birth Control

After going back and forth about deciding to move in with Mackenzie and her family, Josh McKee decided not to move in after all. He worked out an arrangement where he stays over the family's home once a week to help out with son, Gannon, but Mackenzie's mom set down the rules: the pair sleeps in different rooms, and says that the family doesn't believe in sex before marriage. A little late for that, and Mackenzie knows it. She discusses starting on birth control — but doesn't know how to bring up the subject with her mom. When she texts her mom to ask about starting on birth control, her mom responded that she just wishes they would abstain.

Mackenzie goes behind her parents' backs and makes a doctor's appointment to get advice on which birth control option would work best for her — not interfere with her diabetes. She eventually gets an IUD.

Briana DeJesus Lets Devoin Austin Babysit Daughter Nova

After dropping her court order against ex-boyfriend Devoin Austin, Briana tried to talk to Devoin about his cyberbullying. She shows him the protective order that she presented to the court to keep him away from her family, and warns him that the next time he disrespects her, she's following through with the court order.

In attempts to involve Devoin in their daughter Nova's life, Briana allows Devoin to babysit their daughter for an hour to see how he handles her. Briana's mom explains that this will help Devoin understand and respect how much work goes into being a mother. Devoin lasts about a half hour with the baby before he’s sweating bullets and calling Briana for help.

Alex Sekella Tries Counselling To Re-Establish Trust

Alex's boyfriend Matt is out of rehab and still not contributing to the family. Alex feels that Matt isn't "pulling his weight." She admits that he "doesn't know how to be a dad," but she expected him to get a job and be more interested in their daughter.

Matt accuses Alex of acting like his probation officer after she tries to figure out what jobs he is applying for — as she works three jobs herself. Alex's mom tries to get the two to coexist peacefully so that Arabella isn't raised as angry as Matt has become. The couple goes to therapy to talk out their trust issues and take steps to learn how to communicate with each other without raising their voices in front of their daughter.

What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Do you think the girls are right to make their kids’ fathers pull their weight?
