A student is suspected to have unleashed a shotgun on a number of other students at Taft Union High School in Taft, California on Jan. 10. Two people were reported to be shot and wounded.
The incident reportedly occurred at 9:00AM in the science building. At 9:20AM, the suspect was allegedly taken into custody and students were evacuated to the football field. Parents were notified and asked to pick up their children.
One victim, a teacher, suffered minor injuries and refused treatment, Kern County sheriff's spokesman
Ray Pruitt told the Associated Press. The second victim, a student, was reportedly airlifted to Kern Medical Center.
"We have a suspect in custody," Ray said, adding that the person was believed to be a student.
All schools in the area are on lockdown with the exception of Taft Union High School, which has been evacuated.
Kern County Sheriff's Department officials are going room-by-room to secure the school.

The suspect and their weapon have both been apprehended, according to a report by ABC News.
