Quvenzhané made Oscar history, not only as the youngest actress ever to be nominated in the Best Actress category, but she will become the youngest winner ever if she takes home the golden statue on Feb. 24!

Quvenzhané Wallis is only 9-years-old, but she has a more impressive career than many actresses four times her age. On Jan. 10, she became the youngest Oscar nominee ever in the Best Actress category for her performance in Beasts of the Southern Wild. In a film that President Barack Obama told People he found to be "spectacular", Quvenzhané plays Hushpuppy, a young girl that is struggling to survive with her ailing father in the southern Delta as a storm approaches. Read on to see what Quvenzhané had to say about her nomination.

Quvenzhané Becomes Youngest Best Actress Nominee

On Jan. 10, Emma Stone and Seth MacFarlane announced the 2013 Academy Award nominations. History was made because not only is Quvenzhané the youngest nominee ever for Best Actress, but her rival Emmanuelle Riva is now the oldest nominee ever in the same category. At 85-years-old, Emmanuelle is nominated for her part in Amour.
Quvenzhané spoke about her nomination and said to The Wrap: "Everyone who made Beasts happen is so happy! Thank you to all you Oscar folks, from me, my mom and my dad. I am so happy for Benh and Lucy and the gang in Louisiana. Meeting all these great new people is one of the best parts for me. I want to thank my family, friends, fans and everyone so much. Beast it!"
And, if Quvenzhané wins, she will become the youngest Oscar winner of all time, knocking out Tatum O'Neill, who was 10-years-old when she won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Paper Moon in 1974.
It really could be Quvenzhané's year — not only did she receive news of her Oscar nomination on Jan. 10, but she also won an award for Best Young Actor at the 18th Critics Choice Award, where she received a congratulatory hug from Ben Affleck.
Quvenzhané is receiving high praise for her performance from her peers, as actress Busy Phillips tweeted, "And the performance that little Quvenzhane Wallis gave rivals anything that I've seen this year. It is beautiful."
Quvenzhané will have to beat out Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Naomi Watts and Emmanuelle for the win.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Do YOU think Quvenzhané will win on Feb. 24?
