Beyoncé has been chosen to sing the National Anthem at President Obama's Inauguration later this month. Do you think this was President Obama's decision? Read on for all the details?
Beyoncé Knowles and
Jay-Z have
long been supporters of
President Barack Obama, so it seems fitting that the 31-year-old singer will be performing at his second inauguration on Jan. 21.
According to the
Daily Mail, other performers will include
Kelly Clarkson who will sing "My Country, 'Tis Of Thee" and
James Taylor who will perform "America The Beautiful".
President Obama's Reaction To The Performers Selected?
President Obama, 51, expressed his delight in a statement saying, "
Vice President [Joe] Biden and I are honored to have these wonderfully talented musical artists perform at the Inaugural ceremony. Their music is often at the heart of the American story and speaks to folks across the country."
Beyoncé performed at President Obama's first Inauguration back in 2009, where she sang the fitting
Etta James classic "At Last," to which President Obama and his wife
Michelle Obama had their first dance.
Beyoncé's Long History Of Supporting President Obama
Prior to last November's presidential election, Beyoncé wrote a
handwritten, eloquent letter in support of President Obama.
"Every day we see your heart and character, inspiring us to give more of ourselves," Beyonce wroté and posted on her website. "You are the leader to take us from where we are to where we need to be. You are the reason my daughter and nephew will grow up knowing that they can truly be ANYTHING they want to be. All my respect and adoration," she continued.
Are you excited to watch Beyoncé sing the National Anthem at President Obama's Inauguration? What do YOU think,
