The perennial New Wave band is returning with their first new album in four years, ‘Delta Machine’! They’ve released a flurry of details surrounding the album, including a release date and a European tour to support! Read on for all the details!
Depeche Mode is back! The English electronic band has announced that their new album — their 13th! — will be released on March 26. Delta Machine will be their first album released in four years, following 2009′s Sounds of the Universe!
The album, produced by Ben Hillier and mixed by Flood, will be released as both a 13-track standard edition and a deluxe edition, which will include four extra songs, remixes of first single “Heaven” by producers Matthew Dear, Blawan, Owlle, and Steps to Heaven. The deluxe edition will also come with a 28-page photo book by Dutch photographer and music video producer Anton Corbijn.
The album's first single "Heaven" will be released on Feb. 5th with an accompanying video to premiere early on Feb. 1.
In a press release to announce the album, the band’s multi-instrumentalist Martin Gore said, "Writing this album was incredibly daunting as I wanted the sound of this collection to be very modern. I want people to feel good about listening to this record, to get some kind of peace. It's just got something magical about it."
Frontman Dave Gahan added, "With this release we've completely shifted our idea of how to create an album. When we hit a wall where we realize the album is beginning to sound too normal, we'll mess it up and really give it that organic Depeche Mode Sound. Delta Machine is no different, and I can't wait for all of our fans to hear it."
The band has announced that they will be touring Europe from May through July of 2013, with North American dates to be announced shortly.
