Two generations of singers came together on Sunday night, Feb. 10, when Ed Sheeran and Elton John took the stage. The two Brits wooed the world with an amazing rendition of “The A Team”!
There's always room in our hearts for some good singer-songwriters, and we got two on Grammy night, Feb. 10, when the legendary Elton John teamed up with newcomer Ed Sheeran.
Ed Sheeran & Elton John Sing “The A Team”
Performing Ed’s hit single, "The A Team," Ed and Elton looked like a perfect pair – and it was actually fun to hear Elton try his hand at Ed's song.
The performance was pleasingly stripped down and simple — a nice respite after Taylor Swift blew the roof off with her opening performance.
Ed’s Pre-Show Nerves
The singer admitted to the radio station Mix 106.5 that he had been having nightmares about screwing up his Grammy performance with the music legend, saying, "I fell asleep just thinking about it and had this really odd dream. I'm doing the duet with Elton at the Grammys and I had this dream where we decided not to play the song we were going to play and we were going to play this other traditional song."
"I forgot to give him the piano reference and he just didn't play," the red-haired guitar and vocalist humorously said.
Ed Sheeran now has a lot of experience playing with British musical legends. In August 2012, Ed played at the London Olympics Closing Ceremony with the remaining members of Pink Floyd. And he'll be sharing the stage with another star when he opens for Taylor Swift during her summer tour.
Ed hopes that the rest of his night goes as well as this performance – he’s nominated for Song of the Year for “The A Team.”
