On the season three finale of ‘Teen Mom 2,’ Kailyn refused to accept Vee’s peace offering, and had no desire to meet her or even allow her near Isaac! But Jo and Vee had been dating for a few months — and Kailyn had no problem allowing Isaac around her new boyfriend Javi. Read why Kailyn’s double standards are not fair to Jo or Isaac!
All throughout Teen Mom 2, Kailyn Lowry has struggled to raise baby Isaac all by herself with no help from family, especially after she and baby daddy Jo Rivera broke up. And while the single mom has done an amazing job supporting her son by going to school, taking on retail jobs and spending all of her free-time with him, she let her stubbornness get the best of her during the finale episode on Feb. 4 when she refused to give Jo’s girlfriend Vee Torres the time of day.
Kailyn Lowry Worried Vee Torres Is A Bad Influence On Baby Isaac
It’s no surprise that Kailyn was reluctant to let Isaac be around Vee and Jo, especially unsupervised, since Kailyn saw photos of Vee smoking marijuana and underage drinking on Facebook when she and Jo first started dating. As a protective mother, Kailyn just wants the best for her son, and is making sure that he isn’t in harm’s way when she’s not around.
However, Jo is a responsible father, and I don’t believe he would allow Isaac to be around any kind of dangerous activity. The truth is, Jo was just 20 years old while filming season three, and even though he is a responsible father when he is with his child, it’s no surprise that he’s going to date other young women his age who engage in experimental young adult behavior — including smoking and drinking.
Kailyn Worried Vee Will Be Playing ‘Mom’ With Isaac
During the season premiere episode, Kailyn warned Jo that she didn’t want any other girlfriend playing mom with her son — which is completely understandable. But during the series finale, her attitude hadn’t changed one bit, even though Vee and Jo had proved they were in a long-term relationship, and had been already dating for a few solid months.
Even when Vee wrote Kailyn a heartfelt letter telling Kailyn that she wanted to be civil for Jo and Isaac’s sake, and assured Kailyn that she has no desire to take her place as a mother figure, the Teen Mom 2 star said the letter “meant nothing to her” — she didn’t even give Vee a chance! Jo called her immature for not even trying, but Kailyn says her adherance to meet Vee and allow her near Issaac was because she was “not ready” — although it seemed that it was more out of jealousy, and I tend to agree with Jo that she was being immature.
In fact, during the finale, Kailyn confessed to her friend that she was afraid if she met Vee, it would mean her relationship with Jo was officially over — and that was too much to take in. Sounds like she’s too worried to face the facts — Jo has moved on, and this woman will be in Isaac’s life, whether Kailyn likes it or not.
Kailyn Moves On With Javi & Brings Isaac Around Him
But Kailyn really crossed the line when she started dating her new boyfriend Javi Marroquin. Javi seems like a nice guy and very responsible, but Kailyn brought Isaac around him pretty much right away, and seems to be moving pretty fast with this new guy.
So Kailyn is allowed to bring her son around her new boyfriend, whether Jo likes it or not, but he can’t do the same?
Actually, when Jo and Javi finally meet at Isaac’s third birthday party, they are both extremely civil to each other. There isn’t any beef or drama whatsoever, and the guys seem committed to making it a fun, chill environment for Isaac. I wish Kailyn could have done the same with Vee!
Kailyn Lowry: Don’t Be So Hard On Jo’s Girlfriends
As we know what happens in real time, Javi and Kailyn get so serious that they end up getting married — and I’m so happy for the couple as they seem like a great fit. But Jo and Vee still are just dating, a year and a half later — which means they are taking their relationship slow, and Kailyn shouldn’t have anything to worry about when it comes to her son.
If Kailyn and Jo are going to coparent together for the rest of Isaac’s life, she needs to come to term that there are going to be other women in her son’s life. Yes, they might not be perfect — and it seems even if they were, Kailyn wouldn’t be satisfied – but it’s important for Isaac that everyone gets along so that he can have a happy, healthy childhood.
Kailyn is doing an amazing job raising Isaac — she is probably the most responsible mom in the cast — but I wish she would be a little easier on Jo along the way.
