Seth hosted the Academy Awards on Feb. 24 and many felt like his jokes were too mean and now he’s taking to Twitter to tell his fans that he will not be back on the Oscar stage as a host in 2014. Are you surprised?
Seth MacFarlane isn’t hosting the Oscars ever again! The Family Guy creator made fun of Rihanna and Chris Brown, Abraham Lincoln‘s assassination, and Jewish Hollywood. But is the major backlash from his jokes why he’s not coming back?
Seth Says He’s Not Hosting Oscars Again
Seth posted a message for his over three million followers: “RT @CrusePhoto: @SethMacFarlane Would you host the #Oscars again if asked? // No way. Lotta fun to have done it, though.”
Seth joked during the show by having William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk come back in time to tell him that he was doing a horrible job as hosting. Do you think that Seth knew before he even hosted that he would never be back? Perhaps it was over before it started.
How Seth Offended Critics With His Oscar Jokes
Seth did do some funny things like have Ted, the teddy bear from his film TED join him on the stage, and he made out with Sally Fields. But he slammed the Kardashians by calling them hairy while talking about Argo, he compared Chris and Rihanna’s relationship to Quentin Tarrantino‘s violent film Django Unchained, and made a comment that really upset everyone by joking about Abraham Lincoln being assassinated.
Seth said: “John Wilkes Boothe, really got inside Abraham Lincoln’s head.” Well obviously he’s referring to Boothe shooting him in the head in 1865. Although it happened over one hundred years ago, it clearly still struck a nerve.
