Casey Anthony showed her face in public for the first time in nearly two years after being ordered to face her creditors at a federal bankruptcy hearing in Tampa, Fla on March 4. Casey Anthony Makes A Public Appearance In Tampa
Casey, 27, appeared dressed all in black as she met her creditors to discuss her bankruptcy case. Casey has not been working since she was acquitted of her 2-year-old daughter’s murder.
Casey filed for bankruptcy in late January, claiming about $1,000 in assets and $792,000 in liabilities. She is listed as unemployed in court documents, with no recent income, reports ABC News.
Charles Greene, Casey’s lawyer, told WESH that Casey had been “living on the kindness of friends for the most part. There are people that believe in her that will see her through this ordeal.”
Charles said that Casey filed for bankruptcy to stop people from coming after her with lawsuits. He notes that she could capitalize on her story, but she refuses to do so.
“She wants people to just leave her alone,” Charles said. “She’s had multiple opportunities to do tell-all book deals, to do tell-all interviews for a lot of money. That’s not what she’s trying to do. She wants this over so she can finally have the time to mourn, not only about the the loss of her daughter, but the loss of her life.”
