According to accidently leaked documents, Emma Watson may be starring in the film adaptation of ’50 Shades of Grey’ as Anastasia Steele. However, there are so many others who could do the role better.
The role of Ana Steele in 50 Shades of Grey requires a great deal of sex appeal, maturity and confidence. In my opinion, there are tons of actresses that could do this better than Emma Watson, the star who documents claim has been cast.
Universal Studios reported that the leaked statements that Emma had been confirmed for the role were completely false, and I’m thrilled about that.
Emma Watson Is Still Hermoine Granger
To me, Emma is still that little girl from Harry Potter who knows everything about wizardry.
I understand that actresses work hard to shake the image they once made for themselves on the screen – the way that Kristen Stewart is now trying to shake off fans’ ideas that she really is Bella Swan.
That may be what Emma is working to do, and why she wants to take on the extremely sexual role of Ana. However, people fell in love with Hermione, and watched her grow up in front of their eyes. So does the audience really want to see the girl they think is adorable in a “Red Room of Pain” getting physical with whoever gets cast as Christian Grey?
I don’t think so.
She Lacks Sex Appeal
It’s no doubt that Emma is beautiful – on red carpets, in her films, and even in paparazzi shots with no makeup, she looks flawless.
However, the sadistic role requires quite a bit of sex appeal – one that I feel Emma really lacks. We’ve barely seen Emma show PDA, let alone be tied to a bed!
Although in the first book of the trilogy Ana is very simple and innocent, Emma’s looks are too innocent. I think that someone luscious like Game of Throne‘s Emilia Clarke has the right look – simple but sexy. Plus, she’s already got experience stripping down.
She’s Too Boy-Shaped
In many chapters of the novel, Ana’s body is viewed as one that gives Christian “a twitching palm,” and has sexuality radiating off of it. Sorry, but there is no way that Emma’s slim body screams sexy.
Again, Emma is gorgeous, but sexy isn’t her thing. I could imagine Mila Kunis playing the role, with her dark locks, piercing eyes and pouty lips rocking the role as Ana. Plus, her body is voluptuous and sexy and she has no problem flaunting it - you’ve seen her Esquire shoot, right?
Plus, if she plays opposite Matt Bomer or Ian Somerhalder, who are both in talks to land the role of Christian, she needs to be just as hot as they are!
