A father with terminal brain cancer finished first in the Gusher Marathon in Beaumont, Texas on March 9th — all while pushing his 6-year-old daughter in a stroller! How inspiring!

Terminally ill, Iram Leon, 32 won gold after crossing the finish line in three hours, seven minutes, and 35 seconds. The humble winner however insisted that he came in second. Why? Because his daughter, Kiana, 6 was ahead of him in her stroller!

“The one thing I’m not going to say on my death bed is, ‘I wish I spent more time with my kid,’” said the loving father.

Iram’s Heartbreaking Diagnosis

Iram was diagnosed with grade two diffuse astrocytoma November 2010. According to the Daily Mail, doctors hope to that he will live to see his 40th birthday. He is currently divorced and lives with his daughter most of the time. He told the Daily Mail that he hopes protect her from his experience as well as share it with her.

“At the Gusher Marathon, against the wind and up hill, with my princess and inspiration a step ahead of me, I ran on a highway even if I’m not allowed to drive on it,” the persistent marathoner wrote on his blog.

The father does suffer from seizures due to his illness. His tumor also affects his memory and language skills. He can no longer drive, work, or play contact sports.

The Father Daughter’s Impressive Racing History

The father-daughter team completed their first half-marathon in October 2012. He has previously completed six races with Kiana, and didn’t want to continue without his princess. Awwww! He had to apply for the Gusher Marathon four times before they agreed to let the unbeatable pair compete. In order to push through, the father listened to Bon Jovi’s ‘It’s My Life’.

“Turns out that maybe brain cancer, which has come with some nightmare scenarios, also has had some that are better than I could have ever dreamed,” Iram wrote on his blog.
How inspiring! What do YOU think of Iram winning HollyMoms? Isn’t that amazing?
