Jules Stewart has always rushed to her daughter Kristen‘s defense, whether to drive off the paparazzi or help her out in the midst of scandal. In a new interview, she explains why she’s taking a back seat and letting her adult daughter make her own life choices.
Kristen Stewart’s Mom Respects Her Daughter’s Adult Decisions
“My daughter is an adult, and she’s perfectly capable of running her own life,” Jules tells the Los Angeles Times in a new interview. Jules has previously explained her parenting style to alternative lifestyle website, SuicideGirls, by saying, “Well I tried to raise my kids…I didn't raise them to be children, I raised them to be adults.”
Jules holds the same attitude in response to her daughter’s affair. “Not only did I not want to comment on it, but it’s not my relationship,” she explains in the LA Times interview.
Jules has expressed that she approves of Kristen’s relationship with Robert Pattinson, having previously told Italian Vanity Fair that Kristen is “very much in love [with Rob] and it's great.”
Kristen Stewart’s Mom Says She’s “Not Very Interesting”
Jules has frequently expressed her rage against the paparazzi, but she also does not entirely understand their constant obsession with her daughter. “She really is not very interesting in terms of conflict. She’s a homebody,” Jules explains to the Los Angeles Times. “She doesn’t go anywhere because she gets hounded.” In other words, there’s nothing to see here — anymore!
