Carolyn appeared on ‘Access Hollywood’ on May 1 and revealed how Jason told her he was gay and what was her immediate reaction.
Carolyn Moos admits that she was just as surprised as everyone else when Jason Collins told the world he was gay. Carolyn was engaged to Jason and the two called it off in 2009 but remained friendly. She says that the NBA star called her up and asked her to “sit down” because he had something important to tell her.
Carolyn Moos: How Jason Collins Told Me He Was Gay
Carolyn went on Access Hollywood and said that Jason left her a message and said “please call me back as soon as possible.” She said that she was “concerned” but had no idea what it was about.
“I have something very important to tell you I need you to sit down,” she said. “This is something that I’ve been discovering for a very long time and I’ve also supressed for a very long time.”
She went on to say that she wants him to be happy: “Everyone deserves to be happy, everyone deserves to live in their own skin. So for him to wake upon a daily basis not being able to do that, it hit me really hard. It still is, I’m still processing it.”
Carolyn Says That She Never Suspected He Was Gay During Their Eight Year Relationship
She said that when they were together he was very romantic.
“He is, he’s very funny and creative- doing things that come out of the heart,” she says. “Presence is the best present. A hand-written card is better than a material.”
