Miley and Liam, a new report states emphatically that your engagement is over — this time — for good. While that may be extremely painful to both of you, it’s brave and the right decision.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, you are making the right decision to call off your engagement and wedding, if a new report is correct.
Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth Split: Why It Makes Sense
There have been major rumblings for months that your relationship was in trouble — serious trouble.
First, Miley, you were suddenly walking around in public without the engagement ring that you’ve been so proud to wear.
You tweeted that you were getting it cleaned, but it sure seemed like weird timing when it just so happened that you and Liam had partied separately at different Oscar parties.
There were reports that Liam was “all over” Mad Men‘s January Jones at a pre-Oscar’s house party in West Hollywood, according to Us Weekly.
Next was another strange move for a supposedly happily engaged couple — Liam, you left for an extended vacation trip home to your family in Australia.
It sure seemed weird that you, Miley, wouldn’t go along with your fiance, especially when you’d already been apart so much because of his filming schedule.
You’ve Been Laying Low To Try & Make It Work
Yes, Miley and Liam, we all heard the denials from your camps that there was trouble in paradise, but honestly when was the last time your fans saw you happily together in public?
Liam — you sure didn’t accompany your appropriately punked-out fiancée at her appearance at the prestigious Met Ball on May 6, celebrating the museum’s new punk exhibit.
No doubt the two of you have been trying to deal with the issues reportedly tearing you apart — Miley’s huge physical and perhaps attitudinal makeover, the demands of your big careers, and the lack of support for the relationship that Liam was getting from his family.
But now Miley, you’ve told a friend, “you’re done,” according to Us Weekly, and that’s actually a positive step.
Miley and Liam, you’re both so young: Miley, you’re 20 and Liam, 23.
That’s very, very young in today’s world to get married. And especially young in the world of Hollywood where the pressures and temptation that young non-stars would face, are amplified like crazy.
In Hollywood, It’s Tough To Stay Together
You both are wealthy, extremely attractive people, who meet loads of other sexy, wealthy, and prominent people. Temptation is often very close at hand, and it can be hard to resist for older and far more established couples.
Even Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie apparently have made an agreement not to do films which include sex scenes with other people anymore! They know the drill — hey, they met on set and know how intoxicating an on-set romance can be.
You two met, in fact, on the set of the 2009 film, The Last Song, and your romance took off immediately.
So it was very ambitious of the two of you to feel that you could make a serious lifetime commitment when you got engaged.
You’re Headed In Different Directions
You both definitely had the best of intentions, but no matter how mature a 19 and 22-year-old are when they make a commitment to marry — it’s a still huge challenge to make it work.
That’s simply because you’re not yet done maturing and growing at those ages. And people can often grow in different directions as they mature.
This appears to be the case with the two of you.
Miley, you’ve done a brilliant job of physically changing your image from Hannah Montana to a sexy, edgy singer with an album showing off your new sound, coming out soon.
Your first single, “We Can’t Stop,” drops June 3.
Meanwhile, Liam, you are avidly pursuing your exploding film career. Hunger Games‘ next sequel comes out in November 2013 and you’ve just finished Empire State and Paranoia.
Miley & Liam — You’re Doing The Right Thing
Miley and Liam — the worst thing the two of you could do would be trying to stick out your engagement and even a wedding, if you are having serious differences and disputes.
No one should ever get married unless they are, no. 1, convinced they have found the love of their lives, and no. 2, have the same life goals, interests and values.
You have to know that you are on the same page on all the big foreseeable life issues, before you marry.
At your young ages, it’s hard to even know yourselves how you feel about those issues, let along know if you’re completely in sync with your future mate’s life vision.
So I applaud you, Miley and Liam, for recognizing that you have issues in your relationship that can’t be resolved now.
Your decision to reportedly call off your engagement and wedding was the wise thing to do. You can always remain close friends and you may reconnect passionately and fall in love all over again. You could eventually marry! Who knows, we’ll see.
So what do you think HollywoodLifers? Do you think Miley and Liam are right to have called off their engagement and wedding? Let me know!
