Exactly six months after the horrific Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting massacre, which killed 20 children and six teachers, grieving friends and family members of the victims gathered to remember their slain loved ones.

The innocent victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre were remembered on June 14 with a moment of silence, six months after the horrific shooting that killed 26 students and teachers. A crowd of more than 200 gathered outside Edmond Town Hall in Newtown, Conn. to show their condolences, and honor the innocent victims.

Sandy Hook Elementary School Six Month Anniversary

The 26 victims — 20 students and six members of faculty — were remembered on June 14 with 26 seconds of silence.

Victoria Soto, 27, was a courageous teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary School, who died protecting her students. Her sister Carlee Soto called for the moment of silence at Edmond Town Hall at 9:37 a.m., around the same time the first shots rang out. She said:

Although it has been six months, we have not forgotten and we will never forget the ones that have died. The pain is excruciating and unbearable, but thanks to people like you that come out and support us, we are able to get through this.

Sandy Hook Victims Call For Gun Control

After shooter Adam Lanza, 20, charged into Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14 armed with a Bushmaster rifle and killed so many young children, the families of the victims have been demanding stricter gun control. Gilles Rousseau, whose daughter Lauren Rousseau was a 30-year-old teacher who died in the attack, is one of the group’s most outspoken members — he said outside Edmond Town Hall:

This remembrance is really touching, but no father should ever have a child fall victim to gun violence. I urge Congress to lead on this issue, and make sure we do everything in our power to keep the guns out of the wrong hands.

It really was such a touching moment to remember one of the most horrific attacks in our nation’s history, and honor its victims. Our thoughts are with the victims’ families.
