ESPN The Magazine‘s annual Body Issue hits newsstands on July 12, and this year’s batch of athletes may be the most intriguing yet. ESPN has shot over 20 male and female athletes at the peak of their physical perfection to show just how amazing, beautiful, and awe-inspiring the human body truly is. See 53 amazing photos below!
ESPN’s Body Issue 2013 — Amazing Bodies Revealed
The magazine’s annual body issue showcases the power of athletes bodies. And while there are your fair share of pecs and abs to go around, of course, there are also some more surprising bodies on display.
Most notably, there’s Gary Player, a 77-year-old — yes, you read that right, 77 — golfer and PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award Winner. Gary swings his clubs and dramatically poses with an over-sized golf ball hoisted above his head. He says that, although he’s being featured alongside much younger athletes, he has “a great ambition to show the world how fit you can be at this age.”
Kerri Walsh Jennings & More
Also making headlines is beach volleyball player and three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings, who posed while pregnant and after the birth of her baby Scout. The mom of three proudly holds onto her burgeoning belly in one picture, and in the next poses while proudly holding onto little Scout.
Along with Gary and Kerri are big-league athletes such as Washington Wizards Guard John Wall, San Francisco 49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick, and U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team Forward Sydney Leroux.
