Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Charges — Boston Bomber Faces Victims In Court
Dzhokhar, 19, has been charged with using a weapon of mass destruction in the horrific attacks that killed three people — including an 8-year-old boy — and wounded more than 260 others. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
This is Dzhokhar’s first public appearance since he was arrested on April 19 by police, who found him bleeding profusely and hiding in a covered boat in a Watertown, Mass. backyard.
The courthouse will likely packed, and survivors of the Boston Marathon bombing, as well as family members of victims who died in the attacks, are expected to attend, according to TMZ.
Tamerlan & Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Terrorist Act: Retribution For Muslims?
Dzhokhar is believed to have worked with his brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, to set off multiple bombs near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
While Dzhokhar was hiding in the boat, he wrote a note to police explaining his motive, saying the attack was retribution for what he called U.S. attacks against Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq.
He later gave law enforcement officials the same explanation from his hospital bed, and reportedly wrote that he did not miss his brother — who died following a shootout with police – and would be joining him soon.
