After 10 years, Elisabeth has decided to leave ‘The View’ for a new job at FOX News. The co-host confirmed her departure on the July 10 episode of the hit talk show.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck, 36, is saying goodbye to ABC’s The View. On her last day, July 10, the co-host opened up about her decision to leave the show.
Elisabeth To Leave ‘The View’
Elisabeth, who has been a co-host of The View for 10 years is leaving the table that currently includes Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, and Sherri Shepherd. The conservative co-host, who replaced Lisa Ling in 2003, is leaving the hit talk show for a new hosting job on FOX & Friends, starting in mid-September, according to Us Weekly.
Co-host and creator Barbara, who is retiring in 2014, gave a statement to TMZ about Elisabeth’s departure: "We have had 10 wonderful years with Elisabeth, and she will now be swimming in new waters. We will miss her and wish her everything good."
Fellow co-host Joy, who is leaving the show in September, tweeted her congrats to Elisabeth July 10: “Congrats to my Republican friend.”
Elisabeth To Join Fox News Team
Elisabeth will co-host FOX & Friends starting in mid-September alongside Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade. She will replace Gretchen Carlson, who will move to afternoons on the station for her own show.
The FOX News team shared its enthusiasm about bringing on Elisabeth.
On the Record host Greta Van Susteren tweeted her congrats to the newest member of the team: “WELCOME ELISABETH HASSELBECK! JOINING FOX NEWS!”
Elisabeth responded, “Thanks @gretawire! Cannot wait to join the team!”
