So sad. Jennifer tragically plummeted 17 stories to her death on August 1 after the balcony she was leaning on gave way. But the worst part is, this horrible accident could have been prevented.

When Jennifer Rosoff, 35, leaned on her 17th story balcony while on a date on August 1, she likely didn’t know it was an accident waiting to happen. But in the wake of this ad executive’s horrible death, new investigations show that the deadly balcony was not up to code.

Jennifer Rosoff’s Death: Balcony Inspections Were Over Six Months Late

Every balcony at the Stonehenge 57, Jennifer’s apartment building, has been deemed “defective or not up to code,” a law enforcement official told the New York Post. “They weren’t strong enough to hold her up,” said the source.

The New York City Department of Buildings has also spoken up, stating that Stonehenge was over six months late in filing their inspection reports. “They needed to file the report by August 2012, but they filed it on Feb. 21, 2013,” a representative for the Department of Buildings said. All other tenants who live in balcony apartments at Stonehenge have been barred from using them.

As of now though, Stonehenge’s management is defending the apartment building and doesn’t want to leap to any conclusions on what happened to cause Jennifer’s fatal fall. “The fact remains that there is an ongoing investigation into the matter and we are cooperating fully. At this time it would be inappropriate for us to make any definitive statement or respond to any specific inquiry that may be related to the investigation,” Richard Dansereau, managing director of Stonehenge Management said in a statement.

Jennifer Rosoff Falls To Her Death On A First Date

Jennifer was on a first date with Stephen Close, 35, when she went to her balcony for a smoke. Perching herself on the railing, it suddenly gave way, and sent Jennifer flying backward into the sky. She fell 15 stories before landing on scaffolding, dying instantly.

Reportedly just before she fell, her date warned her, “Look, this thing looks unstable. Maybe you want to get down.”

“I’ve done this before,” Jennifer reportedly replied.

What an awful tragedy. Our hearts go out to Jennifer’s friends and family as they try to make sense of this tragic accident.
