The cat’s out of the bag! Or, rather, the banshee’s out of the bag. Teen Wolf fans were thrilled by the big reveal of what Lydia really is, but no one was more relieved than Holland Roden herself. “[Creator] Jeff Davis loves to put things off till the last second,” Holland told HollywoodLife.com on Aug. 1 at the 2013 Young Hollywood Awards. “It’s nice now that there’s an actual reason behind the mania.”
But before you think playing a banshee is all fun and games, know this: those screams are real — and they’re not easy.
“People ask if they’re banked screams; they’re not banked,” Holland told us. “I’m starting to take voice lessons, actually, and my voice teacher said, ‘You’re probably going to have to bank a couple screams because you can’t keep doing that to your vocal chords.’ It takes a couple days to recover.”
Lydia & Stiles’ Big Kiss
The trailer for the final episodes of 2013 certainly had fans screaming — especially when we saw the long-awaited lip lock between Lydia and Stiles (Dylan O’Brien)! Holland told us that episode 11 is a “very big episode” in terms of two characters “coming together,” but I didn’t let her end there.
Here’s what Holland told us about filming the epic ‘Stydia’ kiss:
Jeff Davis had talked to us about it before; he wanted a certain reaction out of Dylan, and a certain reaction out of me. … A little bit more so from Dylan, he wanted a particular reaction, and when it actually happened, Dylan’s like, ‘Yeah, man, I didn’t see it going that way. This is what just happened.’ When Jeff watched the dailies, he was like, ‘Thank God you did. It turned out better than I thought.’ I can’t tell you what direction each of us think about it but it was pretty cool.
I guess that’ll just have to do for now!
