How touching! Raven stood up for what she believed in and seemed to come out in the process by celebrating the legalization of same-sex marriage and stating, ‘I can finally get married,’ on Twitter on August 2. And ever since, the outpouring of support for the TV star has been overwhelming!
Raven-Symone’s gay-friendly tweet — and apparent official coming out statement — on August 2 has already inspired countless people, who tweeted out their support and admiration for Raven’s strength and courage.
Raven-Symone: Overflowing Support After She Comes Out
Apparently celebrating the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn The Defense of Marriage Act and the recent legalizations of gay marriage in Rhode Island and Minnesota, Raven took to Twitter, saying, “I can finally get married! Yay government! So proud of you.”
Many took the tweet as an official coming out announcement from Raven, who has been rumored to be gay before, and thousands of fans began celebrating along with the 27-year-old star on Twitter almost immediately.
As of August 3, Raven’s original tweet has been retweeted 11,791 times and favorited another 10,114 times!
“Proud of my idol!!” @DanielJBaker wrote. ”And I’m so proud of you for that tweet,” another fan wrote. The That’s So Raven star even got some humorous support: @PunkyStarshine tweeted, “Does Raven play for our team? I missed that, but I dig it.”
“Thanks for all the love!” Raven wrote back to all of her supporters.
Raven-Symone: But Is She Getting Married?
Raven also responded to the outpouring in an official statement, reinforcing how happy she is about marriage equality, but also clarifying that she isn’t tying the knot just yet.
“I am very happy that gay marriage is opening up around the country and is being accepted,” Raven said. “I was excited to hear today that more states legalized gay marriage. I, however am not currently getting married, but it is great to know I can now.”
Either way, we’re so happy for Raven, and we’re proud too of her bravery to show the world who she is and stand up for what she believes in!
