Kris has never had a good relationship with Bruce’s mom, Ester Jenner. In fact, we learn on the Aug. 18 episode that they’ve only met four times! Bruce convinces Kris to let Ester come visit for her 87th birthday and it turns into a total disaster.
We’re learning on this season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians that Kris Jenner has a lot of skeletons in her closet. It turns out the momager is barely on speaking terms with Bruce Jenner‘s mother, Ester Jenner, who lives in Idaho. When Bruce asks Kris if she’ll stay for Ester’s birthday party, she says she’ll have to “check my schedule.”
Kris Jenner Fights With Bruce Jenner’s 87-Year-Old Mother
Bruce goes to Kris and tells her that his mom’s birthday is coming up and he thinks it would be nice if they went to visit her in Idaho. Kris freaks out and tells Bruce that his mom doesn’t like her and that each encounter with her has been unpleasant. Kris tells Bruce she won’t go fly to see her because she wants to surround herself with positive energy and people that love her.
Bruce is truly heartbroken and decides to try and get advice from Khloe Kardashian. Khloe convinces Bruce to keep trying to tell Kris just how important this is to him. That’s when Bruce tells Kris he will fly his mother to California, so that they don’t have to go there. You would think that would make Kris happy but she still says she’s not sure if she’ll be around for the Jenner family dinner. It really is sad to watch a Kris hold a grudge like this.
When Ester shows up, Kris doesn’t even go up and talk to her. Instead, they glare at each other and don’t speak. Finally, at the dinner a few words are spoken but it’s so awkward. We’re watching Kris have a fight with her children’s 87-year-old grandmother — so weird!
Things are so tense, that Kris makes up an excuse to leave the party early. Of course she blames it on Kim’s pregnancy and says she needs to go “take care of her.”
The next day Bruce gets his mom from the hotel and brings her to the house so that Kris and Ester can hash things out face-to-face.
Kris & Bruce Jenner’s Mom Have A Heart-To-Heart
Kris is continuing to be standoffish but Ester makes the first move. The little Jenner matriarch tells Kris that she’s sorry they haven’t been closer and she thinks Kris has been a good wife to Bruce. But she does quip that it’s the “longest marriage Bruce has ever had.” She had to get a dig in somewhere!
Kris and Ester talk things out and agree that they need to speak more. It’s totally awkward to watch but nice that they could work it out all.
