Raz-B has been on life support since August 16 after being brutally attacked in a China nightclub. As he clings to life, here are some things you MUST know about this talented singer.
Right now you may only know Raz-B as the R&B singer who fell into a coma after getting viciously smashed in the face with a bottle while trying to break up a fight in a China nightclub, but he is so much more than that.
Raz-B: Five Things To Know About Him
1. He’s An Iconic R&B Star
Raz-B — with the help of a few bandmates — revived R&B music in the early 2000s with the group B2K. Along with Omarion, Lil’ Fizz, and J-Boog, Raz-B and B2K had an unstoppable run with massive hits like “Bump Bump Bump” and “What A Girl Wants.” They were basically Generation X’s Boyz II Men!
2. He’s Multi-Talented
Raz-B doesn’t only have a successful music career — he’s an actor too! The singer most notably starred in 2004′s You Got Served, where he showed off his impressive moves… and acting skills!
3. He’s An International Star
Raz-B has fans all over the world — especially in China (which makes the attack he suffered even more tragic). After releasing his 2010 mixtape, Boy 2 King, Raz-B put on shows all throughout the country, making stops in Shanghai, Beijing, and many other Chinese cities.
4. More Music Was On The Way
Though production will likely come to a standstill now that Raz-B has been so awfully injured, the 28-year-old singer had recently signed with the Dutch music label, Kameleon Music Group, and was working on a full studio album while also touring.
5. This Isn’t His First Near-Death Experience
In 2012, Raz-B nearly died after accidentally falling through a glass door, according to TMZ. Accidentally slashing his wrist on one of the shards of glass, Raz-B lost a nearly fatal amount of blood before being rushed to an emergency room. “MAN…. Cherish life and your loved one’s. You just never know. THANK YOU LORD FOR SAVING MY LIFE,” he tweeted after the accident.
Raz-B has had a long, successful career and his work has inspired many who have come after him. Hopefully he can pull through, but in the meantime our thoughts and prayers are with him, and his friends and family.
