One of the most anticipated one-on-one interviews of the year is finally here. Oprah sat down with Lindsay Lohan for ‘Next Chapter’ and on August 18, where Lindsay answers the questions we’ve all been wanting the answers to.
After years of being in and out of the media, the courtroom, jail, and rehab, Lindsay Lohan is finally sharing what has really happened over the years, admitting that she “just needs to shut up and listen” to those trying to help her.
Lindsay Lohan Opens Up On ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’
Oprah Winfrey sat down with a clear-headed Lindsay, where she asked about all six trips to rehab, her time in jail, and even her scary drug use.
“My intention is to just, you know, be me — be open and honest,” Lindsay started the interview with. She revealed that her first time in rehab — back in 2007 — was actually because she had began taking Ambien and the side effects were “really scary.”
The next few times were after two DUIs, possession of cocaine, and Lindsay herself realizing the help she needed.
After the first DUI, Lindsay was court ordered to go to Promises Rehabilitation Center. Just two months later, she got a second DUI.
“I didn’t take Promises seriously,” she said. “There were moments at that age for me, I related on and off. I didn’t really acknowledge that there could be an issue, that there would be. I was 21.”
Lindsay: I Was Ready To Go To Jail In 2007
However, there was a huge issue — and she was going to jail:
Strangely, being in my addiction and having all the chaos around me that I was so comfortable with — somewhere inside me, I kind of wanted to go to jail. That was subconsciously being put out there by me. I think it was just to find some peace, to have some time to just sit and be. It’s terrifying. Just seeing my mom and my sister’s face in that courtroom — and my dad, i just remember this rush of heat coming over me and not knowing what to expect.
Oprah was wondering why, after five times in rehab from 2007-2013, the sixth time was different, as Lindsay claims.
“I’ve just hit a wall,” Lindsay explained. “I’m just tired. When I spoke to Shawn Holley (Lindsay’s attorney), I just said, ‘I think the best option is to just go to treatment, to take care of myself, to find myself.’ I came into it really willing [the last time]. I don’t have control over tomorrow.”
Lindsay Admits: I’m Addicted To Alcohol & Chaos
When asked her drug of choice, Lindsay reveals that alcohol started it all.
“Alcohol,” Lindsay answered. “And that, in the past, was a gateway to other things. I never abused, but I tried cocaine with alcohol.”
Lindsay was arrested in 2007 and charged with possession and misdemeanor use of cocaine. She said in May 2013 that she had used cocaine four to five times in her life.
“I really haven’t done it more than 10 to 15 times,” she revealed to Oprah. “Of course I said three to four time! I was terrified and humiliated. No, it never felt good the next day. It allowed me to drink more. It went hand in hand with drinking.”
It’s no secret that Lindsay’s grown up in a chaotic household, and she confirmed to Oprah that “it was a comfortable chaos.” “What was chaotic to other people looking in, to me was normal. There’s something to be said about me learning to just be OK.”
So, what exactly is different this time around? Oprah was wondering the same thing.
“I’m not taking Adderall – that’s a big deal,” Lindsay revealed, telling Oprah that she began taking it for ADD and became addicted. “That’s all i knew. I was convinced it did ground me, but I noticed how calm I am now [without it], which it did before. The more that I’ve spent time working on just myself, with no other, I don’t need it.”
However, now Lindsay is not using any drugs, she claims — only vitamins and medicine for acid reflux disease. Now, it’s time to just focus on what makes her happiest — acting.
Lindsay On Acting Again: Nothing Can Stand In My Way Now
“I have to regain the trust of people in my career that have their doubts, and I fully respect that,” she said. “I hate that label and that title [of child star gone bad]. That’s not what I ever aspired to be. That’s not what I want in my life. As long as I stay honest with myself and just do the work that I’m willing to do and have been willing to do and am doing, then there’s nothing that can stand in my way of that. I’m my own worst enemy, and I know that and I’ve been.”
It appears that now is the start of something new for her Lindsay.
“I haven’t felt the way I feel now in a very long time,” Lindsay said. “I feel whole again. I have such a desire to want to keep this feeling and want to stay this way. I’m willing to do whatever it takes . I really want to be on set again, that’s what feeds me!”
Oprah ended the interview telling Lindsay she wants her to win — do you? What did you think of the interview, HollywoodLifers? Do you think that Lindsay’s interview is a new start for her?
