Can you believe someone paid THAT much for Jennifer’s Gap sports bra?!
It looks like everything Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence touches turns to gold…well, almost. While the 22-year-old has taken a break from the red carpet following a very momentous awards season, the star still managed to make headlines when her used Gap sports bra, (size 36C, for those who were wondering), and jersey top that she wore in Silver Linings Playbook went up for auction. Jennifer wore the bra under her blue shirt during a dancing scene with Bradley Cooper — and 14 bidders fought for the shirt-and-bra combo that wound up selling for $3,175 by auction house Nate. D Sanders. While Jennifer’s used bra was pretty pricey, most Gap sports bras retail for under $40.
Along with the bra and jersey top, a pair of custom-made white pants that Jennifer wore during the dance competition scene and a black winter coat were also up for grabs — but nothing caused quite as much of a stir as the sports bra and shirt!
Sure, Jennifer delivered an amazing performance in Silver Linings Playbook and she won the Best Actress Oscar at the 85th Annual Academy Awards, but does that make her worn Gap bra worth that much? I would think if anyone was going to splurge on something worn by Jennifer, it would be her gorgeous Christian Dior couture Oscar gown! Even if she did trip up the steps while accepting her award, the star looked absolutely stunning in the pale pink frock.
Personally I’m having a hard time believing someone paid that much for Jennifer’s sports bra, but what do you think? Would you ever bid on a pricey costume from one of your favorite films?
