Now this is how you dress for dinner. Get ready to get glam just like your favorites ladies on the period drama.

Break out the lace gloves and your favorite strand of pearls! We’re sure the Dowager Countess would certainly approve of this news. NBC, (the company, who owns Carnival Films, the show’s production company), announced that they plan on releasing a Downton Abbey clothing line inspired by the exquisite costumes from the show.

‘Downton Abbey’ Clothing Line:

“It’s very rare for a British drama to have this much retail potential and merchandising value,” executive producer Gareth Neame said. He told CNBC to expect “an entire range of products… from fashion, apparel and homeware and furniture to wallpapers, beauty products and stationary.”

While we can’t get enough of the lovely outfits the Lords and Ladies of Grantham debut for their daily dinner parties, not many people in 2013 get this dressed up just to eat their dinner every night. Imagine your date greeting you in tails and a top hat?

Downton isn’t the first show to venture into retail. In fact, Mad Men has an ongoing collaboration with Banana Republic which produces a capsule collection inspired by the show. Most recently, Brooks Brothers announced that they’ll be designing a collection inspired by the highly anticipated film The Great Gatsby.

What do you think about the launch of a Downton Abbey clothing line? Personally, it reminds me of the American Girl clothing — and I can’t wait to see it once it launches!
