Who said goodbye? Who came back from the dead? And what’s the deal with Peter Pan? Epic doesn’t even begin to describe this season finale.
The residents of Storybrooke, good and evil, had to put aside their differences in order to save their town from total destruction on the May 12 season finale of Once Upon A Time. But before the hour was over, a far more important mission revealed itself — one that took everyone far away from Storybrooke.
In yet another attempt to redeem herself, Regina (Lana Parrilla) volunteered to give up her remaining powers to hold off “the device” long enough for everyone in town to escape. But rather than let the Evil Queen die, Emma (Jennifer Morrison) stepped in to lend her a magical hand. (Side note: Am I the only one who totally forgot about Emma’s powers?)
Sadly, everyone’s celebration was cut tragically short when they realized Tamara and Greg had made off with a very precious bit of cargo: Henry (Jared Gilmore)! The evil duo used one of the remaining beans to carry him off to Neverland, and just when it seemed like everyone was out of luck, Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) returned with the very last bean.
RumpBelle Says Goodbye… For Now
When he still thought Storybrooke was doomed, Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) restored Belle’s (Emilie de Ravin) memory, so she wouldn’t have to die as Lacey. But even after Regina and Emma saved the town from destruction, RumpBelle’s saga only got more depressing.
Gold made Belle stay behind in Storybrooke, while he went off to Neverland with the others, so that she could help cloak the town from its enemies. The fan-favorite couple shared a big, emotional, tearful goodbye — but will it really be the last time they’re together?
“I will see you again,” she told him. (The feelings! Oh, the many feelings!)
What’s Henry Got To Do With It?
This week’s flashback chronicled Hook’s relationship with Baelfire, from bromance to betrayal. The captain took the boy under his wing, teaching him ‘the way of the pirate,’ until Bae discovered Hook’s connection to his parents.
Tired of babysitting the boy any longer, Hook turned Bae over to ‘The Lost Ones,’ who had come looking for him earlier in the episode. And yes, ‘The Lost Ones’ are better known to the audience as ‘The Lost Boys,’ led by the one and only Peter Pan!
OK, now here‘s the weird part: It turns out Bae was not the boy Peter Pan was looking for — he actually wanted Henry! Yes, that Henry; the one who is now on his way to Neverland, with everyone else in pursuit.
Basically, season three is going to be bananas!
Where In The World(s) Is Neal?
Good news, friends: Neal (Michael Raymond-James) is alive! The final moments of the episode revealed that Emma’s true love landed in the Enchanted Forest, and his body was found washed ashore by a few familiar faces — Aurora (Sarah Bolger), Mulan (Jamie Chung) and Prince Phillip (Julian Morris)!
HollywoodLifers, did you love the season finale as much as I did? Why do you think Peter Pan wanted Henry, and what will happen when everyone comes face-to-face next season? Drop me a comment with your feelings on the cliffhangers — including RumpBelle’s future, Neal’s fate and the mysterious Peter Pan!
