Sadly, this Minnesota teen was diagnosed with cancer at 14-years-old and only lived to 18. Zach Sobiech, the teen who released “Clouds” on YouTube, a song that went viral in December 2012, died from bone cancer on May 19. Because of his song and contributions to The Cancer Center, millions of people will continue to be affected by Zach’s legacy for years to come.
Zach Sobiech’s Family Remembers The ‘Clouds’ Singer
“It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of our son Zachary David Sobiech. Our family has been blessed not only by his amazing presence in our lives, but also by the love and support of our family and friends and by so many people in the community. In particular we’d like to thank those people who listened with their hearts and helped Zach bring his message and his music to the world,” his family said in a statement, obtained by the Today show.
“Clouds,” which Zach released as a goodbye song upon hearing that he only had months to live, has reached over three millions viewers thus far.
Earlier this month, a lip-synching video tribute featuring celebrities including Ashley Tisdale, Jenna Fischer and Jason Mraz appeared on Rainn Wilson's SoulPancake YouTube channel.
