The courageous 10-year-old girl, who was dying from cystic fibrosis, is beginning her long road to recovery after her successful lung transplant. A source close to Sarah’s family tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY just how the family is handling the miraculous recovery.

Sarah Murnaghan, 10, is in the hospital recovering after she underwent a life-saving lung transplant operation on June 12. The miraculous procedure came after her parents Janet and Fran fought relentlessly for legislation to allow their daughter to acquire a new set of lungs from an adult organ donor list.

Sarah Murnaghan’s Recovery

Sarah’s family is relieved and thrilled that the little girl, who was dying from cystic fibrosis, got her lungs just in time. A source close to Sarah’s family tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY:

Now that she is out of surgery, there is a long road ahead for recovery, but they are thrilled beyond belief that there daughter had a tremendously successful surgery and the outlook on everything looks spectacular! The doctors have been amazing and did an incredible procedure and saved her life!

The family is also having ”tears of joy, and believes in miracles!”

Her family confirmed the good news to CNN, and said she was put in surgery on the morning of June 12.

"God is great! He moved the mountain! Sarah got THE CALL," a statement on her Facebook page read. "Please pray for Sarah's donor, her HERO, who has given her the gift of life."

Sarah Murnaghan Moved To Adult Donor List

Before her life-saving operation, Sarah had waited on the top of the pediatric donor list for a new set of lungs, but there were no donors available for the little girl.

As Sarah was waiting for her new lungs, she was slowly dying each day — and her parents took legal action to move her daughter to the adult donor list. Previous legislation prevented Sarah from being on the adult list because she was too young. The law, which has been in place since 2005, allowed surgery for patients over the age of 12, and could be fixed based on the severity of the illness versus the amount of time on the waiting list.

But on June 5, U.S. District Judge Michael Baylson temporarily lifted the rule because of the severity of Sarah's illness. She was placed on the adult donor list, and finally got the lungs she deserves.

We’re so happy Sarah is continuing to heal and recover. What do YOU think of what Sarah’s family said, HollyMoms? Are you excited for her?
