Fans were left shocked by Brooks’ shocking departure from ‘The Bachelorette’ on July 29, and host Chris revealed exclusively to HollywoodLife.com that Brooks and Des seemed to have a ‘great’ relationship. So what went wrong?
The July 29 episode The Bachelorette was truly shocking, as fans of the romantic show saw frontrunner Brooks Forester break Desiree Hartsock‘s heart when he told her that he didn’t love her and left the show. Speaking about the dramatic moment, host Chris Harrison tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively that he thought Brooks was the front runner, and that they seemed to have a really promising romance.
Chris Harrison: Brooks Forester & Desiree Hartsock’s Relationship Seemed Perfect
Chris, who has been hosting the show for more than a decade, talked exclusively to HollywoodLife.com about Desiree’s journey to find love.
“I think there were a few people [who looked promising],” says Chris. “it was hard to get a feel for exactly who she was falling for. I have an easier way in the past.”
Chris did note when speaking to us that Chris Siegfried and Brooks seemed like the frontrunners all along, and that she and Brooks seemed like a really compatible match.
“She and Chris get along, but then you have a guy like Brooks who she seems to have a great relationship with,” Chris reveals.
How interesting! It really did seem like Desiree and Brooks were meant to be, but then he shockingly left the show, because he said he didn’t love her as much as she loved him.
So who wins?
“There was a pretty big group of guys who I thought would have been fantastic for her,” says Chris. “I felt the same way with Sean [Lowe]‘s season. He did a good job at picking who fit his life and lifestyle, and I feel that is what Des is in the process of doing.”
Well, she did admit she would move to Seattle to be with Chris!
Even though Chris thinks that Des and Brooks are well matched, he admits that there were ”warning signs.”
Writing in blog for Entertainment Weekly, Chris said:
All along there have been red flags regarding how he feels about Des. At the same time Brooks said he was jogging, Des said she was running to the finish line. When you love somebody at this point in your life, you say it like Chris and Drew [Kenney] have done. And if you look at Brooks' body language and his eyes as Des says she's running, it really says it all. His look screamed out, "What the…? Oh really?"
I've asked Des several times along the way if she was concerned about the fact that Brooks never really expressed his feelings. Because she was so in love with him, or so she thought, she either couldn't see these warning signs, or was "running" so fast that she blew right past them. I guess we all believe what we want to believe. At no time, however, did I think it would come to this. Yes, there were warning signs, but I believed that what Des was telling me about him was true, and that he gave her many other signs that it was all there.
Let’s just hope Des gets her happy ending on the August 5 finale of the show!
Chris Harrison Launches Dating App 'At First Sight'
Chris may be used to helping handsome hunks and lovely ladies find love on a TV show, but that is not to say that he is not able to help regular folk also! Along with the show's producer Mike Fleiss, Chris has launched an online dating app that uses video to show you potential love matches.
Chris says:
A lot of websites are so antiquated, and we didn't believe in what they were doing. It's a little outdated. It doesn't reflect how people are meeting each other in this day and age. At First Sight is really a culmination of what we have learned over eleven years on the show.
You know by looking at the market place, understanding what is out there, understanding our audience and what people are looking for. The main thing is that we have video profiles, so we have taken the best part of the Bachelor and put it into real life.
