Ali Larter is one busy mom! Juggling her acting career, cookbook writing, and family life with her husband and her son Theodore, 2, Ali has picked up quite a few tips to staying organized. In an EXCLUSIVE interview with HollywoodLife.com, the mom-on-the-go shares her tips for staying balanced and saving time so you can spend those special extra moments with your family!

Ali Larter & Microsoft 365 Share Organization Tips For Moms

It’s the busiest time of year for moms — sending kids back to school takes a lot of effort and planning! Tips for moms organizing schedules for kids going back to school:

It’s about staying balanced. For me it’s like, if I’m eating dinner and my son’s screaming and my husband needs this and the dogs are barking sometimes It’s about just giving up. Just going like, ‘you know what? Dinner’s not getting made tonight, we’re ordering in a pizza!’ and just sitting with your kid. And that’s what I try to remind myself of. I think that we all take on too much, in this modern world we’re trying to be everything.

Sometimes you need to just throw your arms up in the air and say, ‘you know what? This is just not going to happen,’ or cancel your plans or whatever it is and just try to be there for your kids. That’s something that I’m not succeeding at, but trying really hard to.

So how does she stay organized in the most stressful situations? Ali has partnered with Microsoft’s Office 365 to keep all her schedules, emails, lists, and contacts in one place. Technology can actually help moms make better use of their time! Ali tells us that the software “takes a minute to learn it, but once you do, it saves so much time.” She explains:

I love efficiency. Especially being a new mom, the days are busy as ever. I’m balancing my career and being a mom and being a wife and all these things, so staying organized is the most important part. I used to have notes just around everywhere, and now I use OneNote so if you pop online and you’r e surfing and I find recipes, I can clip it to the cloud and then access that from anywhere, from any device, so I can use it on my phone when I’m at the grocery store when I need my to-do list or my ingredients [list].

Ali Larter: Centering Family Time Around Food

Ali’s new cookbook, Kitchen Revelry, was one of the first things she made with her new tech-skills!

When I created my book, [out in September] I didn’t even know how to open Word and then this is such a good partnership because I am totally technologically backwards and once I learned how to use it, I wrote my whole thing on it. So it’s over 100 recipes and I’d be cooking and you know my hands in the sauce and dealing with my kid and resume reading and pop right back on where I left off in Word. It’s things that like that were really helpful to me.

Ali is able to center family time around meals, so that she can keep her son and active part of what’s going on in the kitchen!

I also cook and have dinner with my son at least 3 times a week. In the mornings on the weekends I love to cook together. That’s a really fun thing to do. Right now we’ve been making greek yogurt and strawberry balsamic popsicles — I’m going to post that recipe on my blog. I love cooking things with him and he has his own kitchen — he’s into my stuff, he wants my big pans and stuff. But he’s got his little apron and it’s just about introducing him to all the foods I eat and if he doesn’t like something, he doesn’t have to eat it, but he has to try it. And that’s kind of all that goes in my house.

Keeping kids involved in the cooking process makes them more likely to try new foods — and appreciate the hard work that goes into meal time!
