Kate Middleton, 31, perused some stores in Chelsea, London, in search of more casual pieces to add to her dapper wardrobe on Jan. 25. You’re probably assuming that she was on the hunt for new dazzling jewels to add to her vast collection, or perhaps a stunning new gown like the others that she so often dons. This shopping trip was a little different for the Dutchess of Cambridge. In fact, People magazine reported that she was out to purchase a simple pair of jeggings from Gap.
It is not rare for Kate to be seen walking the streets of Sloane Square and on King’s Road, where she frequents a small coffee shop and the strip of stores. However, no one was expecting her to be struggling for the perfect sized stretch pants in the local Gap, which is most likely to be crowded with locals. We give Kate a ton of credit for being modest enough to sport a more casual style during these vulnerable months.
A source says she was looking for a particularly skinny pair of jeans, but didn’t end up buying anything because she couldn’t find the right length. She was said to be wearing a simple shawl and stopped into her favorite sandwich shop, Pret A Manger, during her mini shopping spree. It’s not the first time Kate has opted for a less expensive look. She wore a completely affordable French Connection top when posing for a portrait by British artist, Paul Emsley in 2012, and she has been spotted shopping in Topshop and Zara. The Duchess is definitely so down-to-earth!
Between suffering severe morning sickness early in her pregnancy, and making time to see brother-in-law, Prince Harry, who was recently discharged from Afghanistan, it’s no wonder the princess needed some alone time to shop for her changing figure. Now in her second trimester, Kate’s feeling a lot stronger, and is expecting the new addition to the Royal Family to arrive in July — we can’t wait to see how her style progresses along with her pregnancy!
