Musical guest Kendrick Lamar joined forces with comedy trio The Lonely Island for a hysterical skit all about living life to the fullest! Watch the funny digital short below!
Kendrick Lamar was not only the musical guest on the Jan. 26 episode of Saturday Night Live, he was also a guest actor! He joined The Lonely Island guys – Akiva “Kiv” Schaffer, Jorma “Jorm” Taccone, and Andy Samberg — to debut their new song “YOLO.”
“You Only Live Once” and the guys in Lonely Island don’t want you to cut your time short. In this great sketch from SNL, they warn their audience to live cautiously – very cautiously!
The comedy trio was joined by Kendrick and SNL host Adam Levine.
The Digital Short Warns Of A Dangerous World
Andy Samberg starts off, saying YOLO is “The battle cry of a generation. This life is a precious gift, so don’t get too crazy, it’s not worth the risk.”
Later verses warn, “Never go to saunas cause they're crawling with piranhas/ And never take the stairs cause they're often unsafe/ You only live once so don't let it go to waste.”
Kendrick jumps in to rap, “Take no chances, stop freelancin’, invest in your future don’t dilute your finances/401K make sure it's low risk and then get some real estate.”
Kendrick appeared in the digital short, but he was mainly there to be the musical guest — he sang “Swimming Pools” and “Poetic Justice” to the happy crowd.
The Lonely Island will return this year with a new album, their first since 2011.
