Lupe shocked fans when he attacked President Barack Obama at a recent support rally — could his views also be causing a rift with his mentor and frequent collaborator Kanye? HollywoodLife.com spoke EXCLUSIVELY to Lupe — see what he had to say!
Rapper Lupe Fiasco drew massive criticism following a Jan. 20 Inauguration rally performance in Washington, D.C. where he dissed Barack Obama, rapping lines like, "Gaza strip was getting bombed, Obama didn't say s—t / That's why I ain't vote for him, next one either.” Now it seems that a huge recording project with superstar Kanye West could be off of the table — perhaps due to his onstage antics!
Lupe Fiasco Confirms The Collaboration Is Done
HollywoodLife.com caught up with Lupe, 30, EXCLUSIVELY on Sept. 27 at his Samsung Galaxy S III-sponsored record release party for Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album, and we asked him about ANY news regarding the long rumored Child Rebel Soldier album.
CRS is the supergroup Lupe has with Kanye, 35, and Pharrell, and they’ve released a handful of high-profile singles — but no full album — since their 2007 formation. The trio has often collaborated in the past, but Lupe firmly denies that it they will work together anytime soon.
“No, man — we’re not doing now,” he says. “It won’t be soon, if ever.”
Could Obama Be The Reason CRS Disbanded?
Our biggest question is if the collaboration has cooled since Lupe has so actively dissed Obama, most notably with the 2011 track “Words I Never Said,” which contained the most controversial verse Lupe rapped Inauguration show. We just hope all of these Chicagoans can get along soon!
Do YOU think Kanye West Is Mad At Lupe Fiasco?
Do YOU think Kanye is cooling on a Lupe collaboration because of their different political views, HollywoodLifers?
