President Barack Speaks About Michelle

At the Inaugural ball, President Obama took to the stage and said touching words about Michelle during his speech. He said that although he was often criticized as President, “nobody disputes the quality of the First Lady.” He’s got that right!

“I’ve got a date with me here,” he continued. “She inspires me every day. She makes me a better man and a better president. The fact that she is so devoted to taking care of our troops and our military families is just one more sign of her extraordinary love and grace and strength. I’m just lucky to have her.”

The adorable couple then danced as Jennifer Hudson serenaded them with Al Green‘s hit “Let’s Stay Together.”

President Barack Obama's Opening Words

The President began his speech at the Inaugural Ball before the crowd by cracking a few jokes. "Let me begin by just saying, you all dress up pretty nice," he said. "I hope everybody is having a wonderful time. Now those of you who are in uniform, you look outstanding. Your dates do look better, though."

Then he got a bit more serious, expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the crowd before him. “I'm not gonna give a long speech. What I really want to do is come down and express the extraordinary gratitude, not just of me, your Commander-in-Chief, but of the American people.” Well said!
