Nailla Robinson, who vanished from her Philadelphia elementary school on Jan. 14, was found alive early the next morning in a nearby park playground.
On Jan. 14, Nailla Robinson, 5, was taken from Bryant School in Philadelphia by a woman dressed in a full-length, black garment with her face covered by a black veil. The woman, who took the little girl at 8:50 a.m., identified herself as Nailla’s mom.
But her real parents reported their little girl missing, and an Amber Alert was issued 12 hours after her initial abduction.
“Where is she, where could she be?” the girls’ mom, Latifah Abdur-Rashid, cried to Philadelphia NBC affiliate WCAU.
Nailla Found Abandoned In A Park Playground
Fortunately, the 5-year-old was found safe early in the morning of Jan. 15, alone in a park playground, wearing nothing but a T-shirt.
At around 4:40 a.m., a man heard heard cries for help. He then found Nailla under the playground jungle gym, according to Upper Darby police Superintendent Michael Chitwood. Police told WCAU that the little girl was cold and scared, but not hurt.
Nailla Taken To Nearby Children’s Hospital
After she was found, Nailla was taken to a children’s hospital where she was examined and reunited with her mother. Police are still searching for her abductor.
5-Year-Old Girl Taken From School In Broad Daylight
Nailla’s parents discovered their little girl was missing when daycare workers came to pick her up. Surveillance footage shows the unknown woman — who is still at large — walking through the hallways with Nailla, just five minutes after she had been dropped off at school.
“[The suspect] told her teacher that she was me, her mother, and that she was taking her out to breakfast and Nailla was already signed out at the office and she took my child and left,” her mother Lafitfah told Philadelphia ABC affiliate WPVI.
The little girl told police that she was blindfolded, and then walked several blocks to a house, according to ABC News. Then a teenage girl took her to the park, where she was found.
What a scary situation. We’re so glad Nailla is safe, and we hope her suspect is found and arrested.
