Is the face of Fashion Star about to become a comedy star?
NBC has ordered a pilot presentation for a comedy starring fashion magnate, pop singer, Weight Watchers spokeswoman and former Newlywed Jessica Simpson, our sister site Deadline reports.
The scripted, half-hour, Curb Your Enthusiasm-like venture will be inspired by Simpson’s life; the presentation will give the network a sense for whether or not it wants to move forward with the sitcom.
Electus and Universal Television will produce the multi-camera project. Simpson and Electus head Ben Silverman currently collaborate on NBC’s Fashion Star, which returns for a second season on March 8.
"I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life — so between the real life elements and a great team of writers, I think we'll have people laughing!," Simpson said in a statement.
