Ratings: American Idol Night 2 On Par With a Year Ago, Relocated Parks Perks Up Jan 18th 2013, 16:40 Night 2 of American Idol‘s Season 12 premiere week drew 16.2 million total viewers and a 5.6 demo rating on Thursday night, down 9 and 7 percent from this cycle’s Wednesday launch and off just 9 percent and a tenth from Season 11′s second outing. Facing off against Idol, The Vampire Diaries returned to 2.9 mil and a 1.4, adding some viewers and a tenth in the demo, while relocated Parks and Recreation scored a 1.9 rating — up 27 percent from its last 9:30 broadcast to match its best demo since November of 2011 and marking NBC’s best number in the 8:30 slot since March 2012.
