Would you be devastated if ‘Dexter’ came to an end, or are you ready to say goodbye?
Dexter fans, enjoy your favorite clean-shaven serial killer while you still can! During a question-and-answer session at the 2013 dbAccess Media, Internet & Telecom conference March 4, CBS Corp. President and CEO Les Moonves might have accidentally let it slip that Michael C. Hall‘s long-running thriller will end after its upcoming eighth season.
“We have Ray Donovan coming on, with Liev Schreiber, which comes on with Dexter‘s last season starting in June,” Les said when the moderator asked about Showtime’s upcoming programming.
Showtime, which is owned by CBS Corp., hasn’t issued an official statement, but at the very least, Les’ off-handed comment should give Dexter fans pause.
How Will ‘Dexter’ End?
If season eight does turn out to be Dexter‘s last, it wouldn’t be totally unexpected. The final scene of the show’s seventh season — which aired Dec. 16, 2012 — certainly left fans with an ominous feeling, as Dexter pondered what the future holds for himself and his sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter).
“Who is Deb now?” he asked himself in one of his classic voiceovers. “Who am I? Is this a new beginning, or the beginning of the end?”
Those are all very good questions; hopefully we’ll get some answers before Dexter makes his final kill.
