With the final five contestants on ‘American Idol’ consisting of all women, I’m left wondering if it’s really fair that the producers have been pushing for a woman to win all along.
HollywoodLife.com exclusively found out that the producers have decided who they want in the finale, and they’ll do everything “in their power” to make it happen — but isn’t American Idol supposed to be based on America’s votes?
‘American Idol’ Should Be America’s Vote
While I’m all about a girl winning Idol, and personally believe that Angie Miller has had it in the bag since the beginning, it’s a little ridiculous that producers have chosen who they want in the final. It basically tells us that our votes probably don’t matter.
“The producers are doing everything in their power to get a finale that consists of Amber [Holcom] and Candice [Glover]; they want to change the Idol mold that has consisted of a white guy winning, so nothing would be better in their eyes then to have two African American women in the finale,” a source exclusively told HollywoodLife.com after April 11′s results episode.
The show has already made history by having a final five consisting of only women!
Keith Urban Wanted A Girl To Win, Too
Even judge Keith Urban told us back in February that he thought a girl would “absolutely” win this season – is that because the show will make sure it happens?
“It's absolutely a girl's year to win, in my opinion,” the country star said. “That's not to say the guys aren't strong because they really are. It’s really more a testament to how strong the girls are this year. I want to see the emergence of great artistry, male, female, it doesn't really matter, but definitely the girls are stronger. I don't know why that is. It's just one of those things.”
So, is the show fixed? Idol is supposed to be completely based on America’s votes, but do our votes really matter? Let me know below what you think!
