While showing off her renowned vocal talents, Kelly Clarkson took a fashion risk by rocking a glow-in-the-dark ensemble during her performance on ‘American Idol’ on April 11. Are you loving the vibe or hating the risk?
Kelly Clarkson took the stage in a very questionable getup while making a guest appearance on American Idol on Apr. 11. While we always love a daring creation, this look appeared to be a bit childish for the more fashionably modern pop star.
Kelly Clarkson’s Colorful Getup
It’s lovely to see the star returning to where she started, but this outfit may not have been the star’s best performance pick. The dress featured a detailed ruffled skirt, giving off a fun 1950′s vibe. The short sleeved number had black and flesh colored paneling along the sleeves, which made the starlet look heavier. The glow-in-the-dark dress was decorated with neon paint that was splattered all over the frock. The “People Like Us” star polished the daunting look with a pair of matching neon heels.
Who would have thought that the starlet would be nervous performing on the stage that launched her successful career. Funnily enough, it was not the stage that made her nervous, but the ever stunning and vocally talented, Mariah Carey. The “People Like Us” star tweeted fans on Wednesday saying, 'Tomorrow I’m performing at Idol in front of @MariahCarey. Pray for me. #PleaseDearGodDontLetMeSuck :)”
Was Kelly’s Idol Look Too Daring?
While we appreciate the singer’s honesty about her ups and downs in the weight department, we wish she did not pick such an unflattering look. The fun glow-in-the-dark aspect of the dress was too overshadowed by the childlike elements of the gown. The risk was a fun one worth taking, but I must say, I have seen the singer look much better.
