Following his horrific leg injury during the March 31 Louisville versus Duke game, Kevin is in rehabilitation after undergoing surgery, and his mother and girlfriend have been vital in helping him recover.
Kevin Ware became world wide news after gruesomely breaking his leg in multiple places during a college basketball game on Easter Sunday, and following emergency surgery, he is at home and recovering. In a new interview, Kevin reveals that his mother Lisa Junior and girlfriend Brittany Kelly have been helping him through his tough rehabilitation. Read on for all the details.
Kevin Ware: Being Rehabilitated By His Mother & Girlfriend
Basketball fans were horrified when Kevin fell and his bone snapped out of his leg, exposing six inches of bone. Immediately after, his girlfriend Brittany was seen running out of the stands to go aid him!
“He’s handling it better than I would’ve expected,” Brittany said to Sports Illustrated. “When they took the towel off his leg, he asked if he’d be able to play next week before they told him no.”
Kevin’s mother Lisa plans to move from Georgia to Kentucky to aid her son’s healing process. With the right level of healing, Kevin’s leg could be healed as early as October for him to begin next season’s practice.
"The biggest thing was getting back here,” Kevin said in a TV interview to MSNBC. “Being in Indianapolis my girlfriend did a great job of just being there for me the entire time until my mom and step dad could be there. But there is nothing like seeing my teammates. We are brothers and I would trade these guys in for the world. Its just a bond there that will never be broken and that's just as real as it gets."
