Rutgers’ men basketball coach Mike Rice paid the price for physically and verbally abusing his players, and now the university’s athletic director is out of his job as well.
Two days after a video emerged of Rutgers’ men’s basketball coach Mike Rice pushing, grabbing, throwing balls at players and using gay slurs during practice, it’s revealed that the athletic director, Tim Pernetti, also lost his job.

It’s unclear if Tim was fired or resigned, but his future was decided by the school on April 4, according to ESPN.
Tim’s termination comes after Mike’s firing on April 3, and the resignation of assistant coach Jimmy Martelli, who was also spotted treated players in a crude manner on video.

More than 50 faculty members at Rutgers University signed a letter calling for Tim’s dismissal based on how he handled the Mike Rice situation.
Tim initially suspended Mike for three games in December 2012 and fined him $50,000 after witnessing similar behavior towards the basketball players.
“This incident will continue to hang over Rutgers like a dark cloud for weeks, months and perhaps years to come,” Stephen Sweeney, the president of the state Senate, said on April 4. “It seems pretty clear that things were not handled well from the start.”
