The very same colorist who created Khloe’s amazing highlights is spilling his hair secrets only to HollywoodLife.com! Read how to get her super pretty look below!

Celebrity hair colorist George Papanikolas, who has worked with Khloe Kardashian for over two years, knows her and her hair color really well! “I transitioned her from the red back to brunette, and done her different Ombre variations.” Now, he’s dishing on his gorgeous balayage technique so you can get gorgeous hair like Khloe!

Khloe Kardashian’s Highlights — Get The Balayage Look

“To create Khloe’s look, I start by richening up the base color. This time, I didn’t take her any darker than her natural color; instead I gave her a richer warmer milk chocolate version,” George tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.

“If you are starting with a naturally dark base, you may need to lighten your base color to achieve the milk chocolate foundation.”

“The real artistry comes with her highlights. I do Balayage, a French highlighting technique where the highlights are painted directly on to the hair. I start with fine delicate highlights at the root, gradually getting thicker, chunkier and heavier towards the ends. Because I can control exactly where the highlights are placed, and depending on the amount of lightener used on each hair strand, you get a variation of different colors, tones and intensity,” George tells us.

“The parts that get less lightener only lift to a caramel shade, and where you go heavier with the lightener, you get honey tones…the result is a seamless graduation of multiple colors!”

If you’re worried about roots and upkeep, fear not!

“Balayage should be really low maintenance. By keeping the highlights soft and delicate at the root area, you are able to go 3-6 months before needing a refresh. If you add the base color in, then you will need to come in more often. Usually every 4-8 weeks.”

“The most important part of the maintenance with balayage is keeping the hair healthy and hydrated. Any time you lighten hair, you are more prone to dryness. That’s why it’s crucial to incorporate a repair strategy, like Joico’s K-Pak Revitalux. It repairs and softens the hair at the same time, and keeps it looking its best!”
