Then there were 16! Singers on Team Usher and Team Blake faced the knockout rounds on April 30, and only half survived — and it was quite the battle! So, which talent won over their coach? And which fell flat?

Both Usher and Blake Shelton had hard decisions to make on The Voice! This was the last episode where the judges have the control, and the singers were fighting for their spot. The choices shocked us all – especially after Usher urged one contestant to really get close to him.

Usher Tells Audrey Karrasch: Get Intimate

The competition was high for Team Usher and Team Blake.

So, when Usher paired up model-turned-singer Audrey Karrasch against Michelle Chamuel  – he wanted both to work hard. Audrey sang Lil' Wayne's "How To Love," while Michelle took on Pink's "Raise Your Glass."

While rehearsing, Usher wanted Audrey to get more comfortable, so he stepped up almost touching noses with her!

"I need you to perform the song like you mean this, I'm going to stand right here, and I need you to perform as though your talking and it's intimate," he told her. And somehow, she didn’t get intimidated!

Well … maybe she did. Michelle’s crazy fun performance won over Usher in the end and Audrey was sent home.

Vedo’s Performs Emotional Heartfelt

When Usher paired up R&B artist C. Perkins against Vedo, it brought out an extremely emotional performance.

While C. took on Chris Brown's "She Ain't You," Vedo chose Bryan Adams' "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)."

The performance was dedicated to his mother, who suffered from lung cancer. We saw her crying backstage during the blind auditions after her son made it through – however, after the battle rounds, she passed away.

When he performed, the emotion radiated through, touching all of our hearts. He won the battle, moving on to live performances, and afterward said he felt his mother was watching and smiling. We agree!

Notable Performances Of The Night — Judges Choices Shock Us

Team Usher's Josiah Hawley took a page out of Beyonce's book — performing a rocking version of “Back To Black.” He was paired up against Jess Kellner, who chose a meaningful song to her – "You Give Me Something."

They both put on decent performances, but Jess’ seemed much more powerful. However, Usher chose Josiah shocking us all – especially Blake who shook his head afterward.

Holly Tucker represented Team Blake singing Tim McGraw's “Live Like You Were Dyin’.” Luke Edgemon surprised the crowd with Katy Perry's “Teenage Dream”" Yes you read that right. Both Holly and Luke put their own unique spins on the songs. In the end, Blake went with Holly, even though it seemed that everyone else really loved Luke!

So, next up is the live shows and the decision no longer falls in the judges hands — but in ours!

What did you think of Usher’s intimate interaction? Did it help Audrey or intimidate her too much? Vote below!
