A well-wisher in Glasgow, Scotland was about to be kissed by a prince, but treated him like a frog! Little Shona Ritchie, 4, completely dodged Prince William’s affections on April 4 — too funny!
Prince William is probably not used to young women avoiding his affections, but the handsome Duke of Cambridge’s attempted kiss on the cheek was not well-received by Shona Ritchie, 4, during an appearance in Glasgow, Scotland on April 4!
The little girl from Glasgow was dressed as a princess for William’s visit to the Scottish city with his wife Kate Middleton, but she was much more excited to see the pregnant Duchess than her husband!
Little Shona had a flower in her hand, and when Prince William went to greet her, he asked if the flower was for him — but she yanked it away and pointed it in the direction of Kate!
“Ooh, is that for me?” he asked. “No, you want to give it to Kate. Quite right.”
Prince William went in for a kiss instead, but the toddler was not having it. “Oh, next time, Shona, next time,” he said with a smile.
Shona Rtichie Became Shy Before Meeting Prince William
Although it appeared the little girl wanted nothing to do with the Prince, her mom told the Daily Mail that she had been waiting all morning for a kiss from the Duke — only to back out last-minute because she was too shy:
“She’s been dressed up like that since 6am today and we’ve been here waiting since nine. But when she finally plucked up the courage to ask him, she got really shy and pulled away. As he leaned in to kiss her on the forehead she pulled away and got really shy. This is the quietest she’s been all day.”
Kate Middleton & Prince William Visit Glasgow, Scotland
While in the Scottish city, the royal couple greeted the dozens of well-wishers who showed up for a peak at the pair outside the Emirates Arena. The visit was part of a two-day tour in Scotland, and Kate and William checked out the venues for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
