If only we could have been a fly on the wall for THIS conversation (we’re assuming curse words were used). A new report claims that the sorority girl behind the best expletive-filled email ever didn’t give up her position as Delta Gamma chairperson willingly — she was forced out! Keep reading for more details.
A week after writing an email to her Delta Gamma sorority sisters that, among many other things, said “I WILL F**KING ASSAULT YOU,” Rebecca Martinson resigned as DG’s chairperson on April 25. Now a report alleges that the decision to step down was not Rebecca’s. Come on, would you really expect the person who wrote the sentence “WE F**KING SUCK SO FAR,” to go down without a fight?
Rebecca Martinson ‘Forced Out’ Of Sorority Chair?
“She was forced out,” a source revealed to Radar Online. “She was basically forced to resign. It was made very clear what she needed to do.”
Delta Gamma on the other hand gave the impression that the sorority chair stepped down on her own accord via a statement made on their Facebook page. "Delta Gamma has accepted the resignation of one of its members whose email relating to a social event has been widely distributed and publicized through social media and traditional media channels,” said the statement. “This is a regrettable action by a college junior — a personal email that is now on view for a global audience. And as all reasonable people can agree, this is an email that should never have been sent by its author. Period.”
Rebecca Martinson’s Vulgar Email
If anything, this report jives with the tone of Rebecca’s incriminating email, which viciously called out the sorority for not putting enough effort into socializing within the University of Maryland’s Greek community. Or as Rebecca put it, “being so f**king AWKWARD and so f**king BORING.”
Rebecca’s email — which used pretty much every curse word in the book — was definitely inappropriate (you just can’t call people “c**ks”), and there was no way Rebecca was going to keep her position after the email went public. But she definitely isn’t the only one who has taken Greek life too seriously — this is really just a blip on the map of Greek living insanity.
All we know is that if Delta Gamma actually did force Rebecca out, they were probably totally scared for their safety while doing it. What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Let us know!
