Bombing Leaves Three Dead & 144 Injured
We told you that two explosions occurred at 2:50 PM near the Mandarin hotel in Boston, 12 seconds and 100 to 150 yards apart from each other. This injured 144 people and killed 3, including an 8-year-old boy named Martin Richard, at the final line of the Boston marathon.
The Boston Police Department told HollywoodLife.com, "There was a major explosion today at 2:50 EST. We do not have an official statement yet, but do know there were numerous injuries. We do not know if there were any fatal injuries at this time. We cannot at this time confirm if this was a terrorist attack. For updates please go to http://www.BPDNews.com."
The blasts happened near the intersection of Boylston and Exeter streets — store fronts were blown out. Some people were so bloody that they were taken to tents immediately to be treated. Sadly, doctors are performing lots of amputations.
Dr. Fagenholz, a surgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital, told reporters in a press conference that many of the people he's treated have shrapnel injuries to their lower extremities.
"I can't say I've ever seen this volume of patients come this quickly with this type of injury,” he said. "We have performed several amputations.”
